Default p/o engine swap

im confused as to what the previous owner (cant contact) did and what sensors and ecu i am realy supposed to have.
the car is a 92 sl. when i bought it i was told the engine was a 95.
the engine has the cas near the fpr and it is adjustable.
if i understand rite this was only on engines up to 92 and to put a 95 engine in the ecu would have to be switched.
was it possible for him to put the 95 engine in and switch things over so that the sensors jive?
does anyone know what ecu would have been in a 92 sl and what one for a 95??

1st gen has ONE ignition sensor on the rear head. 2nd gen has a sensor on the belt side of the rear head and by the harmonic balancer. The wires on the timing cover are a giveaway there.

Inventive people have figured out ways to install either engine in any year car.

Pull your ECU and post the number and someone who knows these better than I do will tell you exactly which is which, or do a little searching. Its in more than one thread.

The 1st gen CAS is able to be intalled on 2nd gen heads. That CAS was moved from old motor to new motor.
OTHERWIZE
you would need the 2nd gen harness and ECU. The 2 ECUs are NOT interchangeable as they entirerly bifferent plug configuration.
So stop trying to out guess what was done. Instaead, open a manual and start reading.

man I'm so sick of this open the manual bull shit.
have you seen the pictures in there? you cant even make out what they are trying to show you. i had to look at actual photos from this site just to find the sensors. i have good reading comprehension and still get confused on some of the testing procedures and alot of the info in there is very vague and runs you in circles. also my manual is on my computer which for some reason is even harder to follow.

we aren't all "wizards"

You should have a MD159963 or 9962 A 94\95 fed spec ECU will work in a 92 but if you still have a single cas they should have kept the 92 ECU.

9962 is cali spec, and 9963 is federal spec.
Your car will have EGR and more then one o2 if it's cali spec.
