need help ASAP!!! which way does the thermostat go? - 3000GT/Stealth International Message Center

ok, so my car was overheating recently, i decided to change the thermostat, when i pulled the old one out, it was stuck, so i know that was the problem. im my rush to get the old one out i forgot to see how it was in there, so i have no idea how to put the new one in. please let me know if the spring goes down towards the engine, or up towards the radiator piping. fast responses are appreciated...

so, if installed incorrectly, it may still overheat? while you are still here :-P

Yes because the hot motor water wont be hitting the right side of the T-Stat and will never open.

Are you sure the T-Stat is the problem? What are your symptoms?

overheating is the only symptom. i pulled the old one out and it was stuck open and wouldnt move, it was working on and off the last week i guess, cause it would slightly overheat, then i let it cool down and it worked fine for a few days then when i finally got to change it it was stuck open. i kinda lied though, i had already changed it, i just put it in the wrong way and i was going to change it again today. but im about to go ride in in for an hour or two to make sure its fixed... and i doubt its the water pump cause it was replaced 2000 miles ago when i got a used engine.
