Headers wouldn't match up. Someone on here has done it before. Search for John Monnin's thread on the subject. He lists a few people who have done it. The engine is wider so you'd have to fab up all your exhaust. The rear mounts are different on the block. I believe you can use 72 water pump and oil pumps, so maintenance is easy in those regards. If you have the resources, just do it.

Now ive been doing some research here.
Custom made mild steel extractors made here, anywhere from $900-$1100AUD (So probably $750-$900USD???)
Stainless steel 3000GT headers $375US+ shipping on ebay.
This is a potential $400AU i could be saving by buying 3000GT stainless headers.
Is it possible to have the pipes cut in half and sort of lengthened?
Becuase i can save a real lot of money by buying off the shelf headers.
I read here that the 3000GT ones pretty much just sit under the oilpan which would mean i would need to get these lengthened.

ones like this...

I would go with the custom 74 headers from RPW or something if I were you. For $750 I believe that would be a better buy. You won't have to worry about fitment issues. The obx headers will have other problems as well when you goo to install them. You will need to modify the rear motor mount and some other stuff that I can't think of. On FL3S there is a good thread about what needs to be done.

Those headers will not bolt up. The engine it too wide and the V angle is larger. so, essentially, you will need to rebend the front to a more shallow angle and the rear will also have to be bent to a more shallow angle, but then the pipes won't reach each other and you'll have to put a link between the two. Personally I'd just go with the headers made for the 3.5L engine.

I need to know what year Magna they fit to tell you if it will go into the 3s. They 3.5L 6g74 we are talking about is the Jspec dohc.

Never mind I'm gonna wiki the Magna.... It will bolt up from what I'm reading. I would contact RPW if I were you since you are in AUS anyway. It can't hurt to be certain and they know all when it comes to Mitsubishi.
