UDP, recommend using the stock 6G74 crank pulley but udp will fit
3SX DP will still have to be modified as the 3.5 is a wider engine

as far as power I have no numbers just seat of the pants power numbers, I have owned SEVERAL TT's and have two now with 3.5 turbo engines, and whitedragons automatic just amazes me the power it puts down, with my old 92 on stock engine/stock turbo's I would have to down shift into third to get away from him after the 3.5 conversion, before I would leave it in fifth and just walk him (remember it was a 98 automatic with NO MODS before the 3.5)

his car is actually fun to drive even with it being an auto
haha well that sounds like it could be very promising... I have a '97 base with pretty much every bolt-on available and I'm getting tired of slowness I'm just trying to find alternatives to buying a brand new car... I love the looks of my car its just the performance that is lacking. I know everyone is going the FI route, but I do like having the reliability of the N/A. I'm just trying to figure out all of the different ways of doing it... such as the aftermarket parts, the installation, the upkeep and modifications needed to install... things like that.

Thanks for the replies. Finally got this thread moving some. I'm glad to hear that the 72 ECU will be fine. That way I have a nice base map to tune off of. I think a really nice gain will be found once I get it installed and tweaked with the Emanage.

So if what I'm hearing is right, then fwdtt guys who didn't swap to the TT engine may not have the best bang for the buck mod(just kidding I know TT is "better"). If an auto 74 will hang with a stock vr4 somewhat. That means it's well worth not having to worry about 10:1TT@6-8psi and the reliability issues that may arise. Also if I wanted to to I can still TT it and have a fwd beast with no traction.

I can't wait till the new year comes around and I can get this going.

Also one last thing... if the engine is the same, what gives the Debonair more power than the Pajaro? Considering the 72 ECU works with both? Or will the 72 ECU level the playing field? Sorry if it has been stated, but I need to figure it out 100% before I start this project.

Other mods I was considering were:

2.75" single shot - in the process of doing now
K&N intake - got it
DP/Headers - Don't know which will fit just yet
Emanage - got it
Test pipe - got it
3SX stock size pulley - before install

This setup should give me a quick DD with no turbo trouble in Orlando traffic.
Hoping for 220whp minimum. That way the new eclipse guys will get a run for their money, and it will prevent me from buying one.

It's all the intake and exhaust + ecu that makes the different between horsepower, as the 3.5 block is the same for the debonair and pajero.

so what would you consider the conservative fwhp to be? 230-240?

I say 230 wouldn't be too far off. I'm keeping my expectations low right now. Some has to have dyno'd their 74.

eh i dont think the good ol' sohc will ever "blow up" so im guessing i will just do the swap due to wanting more power... i'm just hoping i can find a decent 6g74 that hasnt been beat on or isnt a lemon. you can never tell with those jdm engines, as they could have a multitude of problems...
