im having a starting problem with my 1993 3kgt sl NA. if i go out on a cold morning or when the car has been sitting for a while it will start right. if i let it idle by itself it will just cut out completely and die. no hestitation or sputtering just die. when you go to start it up after that it wont start it will turn over fine but no start. if you come back like 15 minutes of letting it rest it will start right back up again. so lately i have been holding it to 2k till it warms up and then just drive it till it gets to full operating temp and its fine. runs perfect. like nothings wrong. no cel light. but if you shut it off and try to start to it back up like 5 mins later it wont start. same thing. not even an attempt. so as i was trying to track down the problem and i took out the iac cleaned it up. no change, but was really dirty but i knocked on the mafs and it immediatly either made the rpms drop or shut off the car completely . but i havent been able to start the car by knockin on it when cranking. not sure if the mas could make it not start. it doesnt smell rich or feel rich when its running normal. i wanted to see what you guys think. btw i dont have a datalogger or any a/f gauges or anything. would it be worth getting one

My first thing that i would do is check that the fuel pressure regulator is good by pulling the vaccum line to the manifold and making sure that its not wet with fuel. Then its seems like the ptu when its hot might be malfunctioning. The other thing i would check is the ECU caps and thats all i can think of as of right now. What year??

i will look into the fpr. for the ptu sometimes it wont start when the motors ice cold after it stalls. its a 1993. i look at the ecu and saw something that looked like a very little bit of leaking from one of the capacitors. i am going to replace them soon. have to order them not sure where to get them.

i checked the fpr and the vacuum line isnt wet. after that i wanted to see if it was getting fuel so i took the fuel line off the fuel pressure regulator at the time i was getting a no start and cranked the motor over. no fuel came out anywhere. i think that was a return line but still shouldnt some fuel come out when cranking. so im thinking maybe my fuel pump is bad. it does hum in the tank so its not an electrical problem and the fuel filter isnt clogged. just wanted to know what you thought. should fuel come out of the fpr when cranking?

also when i check for spark it will spark once in the very begining when you first start cranking and then stop sparking. just like one spark per key turn. i will check the cas. is there any where here where it tells you how to properly adjust i dont have a manual.
