Ok I am wondering what everyones opinion on gutting a cat vs a testpipe would be. Amiturbo just gutted the cat on the auto stealth today and he said it seemed to feel like the same gains as a test pipe just without the annoying raspy sound.

Gutting your cat is basically the same thing as a test pipe. Gutted cat is heavier but its easier to pass inspection with. Test pipe is just a pipe that replaces the cat, meaning you might not pass inspection inless you know the person that inspects your car lol.

Lol oh well we live in florida so we have no inspections...i remember on his old 5spd stealth he put a test pipe on it, then maximal catback and it sounded raspy and I hated it. then the headers were put on and it was even worse lol. but the catback with cat sounded good.

I have a 3sx custom downpipe, test pipe, and a 40 series flowmaster with none of the stock piping and it sounds freaking awesome lol. I have never gotten any raspy sound out of it. Id give you the link to my exhaust on youtube but Im in school and they have everything blocked lol.
