Default 3SX Pulleys: Need Feedback

I was thinking about getting a new mod for my car, and I want the 3SX pulley. Can anyone give me feedback on it? Does it give more hp than the unorthodox pulley?? Any feedback is appreciated, thanks.

Well the 3sx pulley is a better product. Its not an underdrive pulley so it doesnt slow down any of your accesories. The unorthodox pulley is known to slow those things down and dim the headlights. Its 1.7 pounds, vs. unorthodox's 1.5 pounds. (Stock is 6.7). The 3sx pulley is availible for all years and models including SOHC. Hp increases are reported to be 10-15hp. Hope that helps.

Been doing a fair amount of research into this. Both pulleys offer about the same increase in HP due to a decrease in rotating mass. The 3sx pulley is the same diameter as stock and therefore is better if you have a high power stereo system. The weight differences between 3sx and unorthadox is minimal. My main concern has been the long standing debate as to wether using either of these pulleys will affect your engine life. The stock one is a harmonic dampner and pulley in one peice. Neither the unorthadox nor the 3sx are harmonic dampners. I know that many people have used the unorthadox pulley without any engine problems. The 3sx pulley is newer (I think) and therefore there isnt as much feedback on it that I have seen. I have some good links to the debate on the pulleys but they are on a different computer. I will post them here later.

I got the 3Sx pulley and I like it. I felt a noticable difference after I put it in. I've had it for about 4 months now and haven't had any problems so far.

puffe516, I don't want to start any flame wars on this topic yet again, as this topic has been very controversial in the past. But do you self a favor, search this board for the pros and cons of this mod, better yet do your own internet search and you'll see there are two sides to considering it. Then make your own decision, it will be as good as anyone elses guess. BTW the HP gains (15)sounds a little high. Ask all the common sense questions i.e. where are the dyno numbers to prove the claims of 15 HP and how does reducing rotating mass "make HP" ? But then again "its only money" and do "you pay to play" ???

Got my pulley today and all I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this thing is light as a feather compared to stock. It weighs nothing. Can't wait to try it out god willing my timing belt is on right and my oil pressure problem is fixed. I have read underdrive pulley post for a few months now. And it seems people have bad opinions of them but they all have them and have 40,000 miles on them. Dosn't Matt Monett run one in every car he has. Don't see him complaining. If I spin a bearing I will blame the fact that my motor has over 100,000 miles, not a peice of rubber. If you think about it the belts are rubber so where is the pressure coming from? just my .02!!!!!

Ill be geting one in a few weeks so i cant wait either. And Pheonix wouldnt that be the same as when you go to lightened rims you car goes faster and heavier or bigger it will go slower do to the power it takes to spin and that whole rotationg mass theory. Im not genious but i have heard soem of the geeks talking about the rotation of mass on the subject of rims so i figure the same theory applies to this pulley, Its round like a rim and it rotates likes a rim so if you use a lighter pulley doenst take as much to spin it right? If i had a dyno i would baseline test and test afterwards but i dont know of one close to me. Cuz hell i would love to know the true horse of my car.

I have the 3sx pulley and did feel a difference. I very much doubt 15HP, maybe 5-7HP is more reasonable but I believe that all your mods, ie intake, downpipe, ect., are better together than each is inividually. We all know the dampening rap and the theory behind it and frankly I did research and a search before I bought mine and found..... just that. Theory. I really did not find anyone who said that they put one in and had a problem, only those that would't do it for the potential problem. And the point has been made too, that ANY mod may have a potential hazzard as it is a variation from what the engineers of the car intended. So, if my car needs a rebuild in 60,000 miles instead of 75,000, I will have enjoyed it more too!
