Default 3.5L experience only!!!

looking to build a 3.5 n/a

due to cost id like to spend as little as possible...
i have been on monnins site and read his thread (which were more for a 6G74TT build), i read the 3.5L discussion thread

at this point i would like to know only 2 things:

1)what modification of parts and/or block will be needed to drop in an "N/A" into an "N/A" (i dont want to know about the extra fittings for oil feed lines)

2)john m said on his site and his forum that this will not pass emissions/inspection...why not? is there a way around it?

I only remember hearing about modification/differences in the oil pump hitting something when switching 3.0 to the 3.5 motor. I dont remember if motor mounts match up exactly, i remeber hearing that the montero 3.5 don't match up but the japanese pajero, early 90's matches up extactly to 3s motor mount points. I'm hazy right now

It seems like a good mod, especially going from my sohc 3.0 to a dohc 3.5 (good 60 hp at least), intake, headers and full exhaust, with a 100 wet shot would creep past a vr4 in a race. (then like usual, could empty your pocket and do 9" drag radials, lower, LSD, etc)

But like many experienced useds/3sers will say..... why not do a DOHC 6g72 TT swap? You will be doing the same amount of work and about the same cost, yet have a lot more power to start with and can only get more power from there, cheaply (as in, boost controller)
