looking up prices to repair my bearing, yesterday we tried the Rislone Engine Treatment just to eliminate possibilities of my problem. im still assured its a bearing or connecting rod(my friends dad's a mechanic but knows more about domestic, thats his guess also), but any estimates on how much this repair would take on our cars for a 3.5?

The problem is that our cars use hydrolic lifters; meaning when they sit for a long time, the oil can drain out of them and they tick a lot; which is what you're hearing. Try running some of the lucas oil treatment with your next oil change, it may help. I also don't know about the 3.0 heads fitting on the 3.5, I would guess no, but I'm sure someone who has the expereince here will be able to tell you! the 3.5 is from the Montero

thanks 3000GTO, im hoping its lifters but i need more proof. me and my dad are worried that if its a bearing, it could b causing more sh*t to fall apart.

try this..start at idle and rev it to 2k rpm and hold it for a few seconds. Let it drop back to idle then rev to 4k rpm and hold it for a few seconds. Once it returns to idle, blip the throttle to about 5-6k rpm and let it return to idle. Do that last step a few times and see if your tick goes away. I do that every now and then and my tick goes away for a few days. Coincidence? Idk lol

lol...that sounds horrible. Sorry but if my car made those noises, I wouldn't even dare start it until I had gone over everything with a fine tooth comb. Sounds like a lifter has completely collapsed or you have spun a rob bearing, its hard to tell.

Edit: Check the oil and see if you see any metal flakes, it will look like metallic paint.
