Default Whos running water/alcohol injection with good results>>>

I have become very interested in running water/alcohol mix thru my motor after some reading yesterday. I am very interested in running higher boost on pump... and this seems like the best way.
Is running this type of setup just as well as running higher octance fuel.... or is it better to just run high octane and call it a day?
Who makes the best setup.. cleanest... and little excess shit hanging around... I would like to use windshield wiper resevoir too....
Does anyone inject before the turbo... basically right into the center of the the compressor wheel so you dont have to fight with boost as you try to run it?
Any setups out there either mechanical or electrical that can inject at preselected boost levels?

Any advice or pics appreciated...

Rob

Trevor runs a high volume of Alky with great results.

Using that link and the little paint brush diagram... I manipulated one of my own. As you can see, I am injecting water before the turbo... in a vacuum environment... so having a very powerful pump may not be an issue... and perhaps the standard washer fluid pump can still be utilized? Since the fuel pump is already hotwired.... I could use the OEM fuel pump relay as a source to power the pump... since I only need it for a signal for the hotwire relay at the fuel pump. Other than that... hardly anything else would be required.
I guess more importantly, do you think this would work?

Cooling pre turbo will have MUCH less effect than after. The turbo will just heat that right back up. You will get a better cooling effect post turbo.

My thoughts exactly. WOuldnt a kit like this be installed just like a N2O kit? Right before the throttle body for best results?

I remember reading an article somewhere stating that injecting before the turbo has to be so very precise because there is hardly any room for error in the injection pattern. The turbo compressor wheel weighs very little and the fins are usually pretty thin. Injecting before can actuall run a risk of damaging these fins if a a spray becomes uneaven because of too heavy a mixture like when dialing in a setup.......this is what i read not sure how it actually applies

Talk to Mikes95RT. He runs it and is very knowledgable. I don't know much about it as I plan to run propane(Thanks IPO!)

I guess you know of persons who have done it his way with undesirable results... or have done yourself?
I spoke of some reading I did the other day in my first post... and it was www.eng-tips.com. I tell ya... these guys have to be some of the smartest bastards I have ever seen. Refer to the posts by turbododge and patprimer. Here is a link... if you got some time... check it out...

http://www.eng-tips.com/gviewthread....d/71/qid/72284

Apparently the fine mist... if injected right into the center of the turbo...can work well. As for how perfect it has to be.... I am not for sure. Now maybe my pump and solenoid idea isnt practical... and I can accept that (would be super nice tho!!)... but I dont think there is anything wrong with pre turbo injection except for possible erosion to the blades (this was talked about in the thread), and the general consensus was that it would take years of this becoming a problem. The reality is you are dumping a fine mist, into the nut of the turbo... while it is already at high speed (higher psi)... so the atomized water will likely vaporize before even hitting the turbo. Seems to me that this could further cool the whole intake charge as it goes thru the plumbing. Also I do not plan on using this with stock turbos, so heat thrown out at higher boost levels should be much less.
Before shooting this down.... or something very similar... has anyone had first hand experience or know someone who has with this method? I know it works... unless turbododge and patprimer on eng-tips are lying SOBs.

Hi There,

I am currently running a twin jet Aquamist system.

I have installed a 0.5mm jet just after each intercooler (as recommended by Aquamist UK).

This works great on my car with a 35% methanol/Water mix.

I am currently running 1 bar with no sign of knock at all. I used to see knock creeping in at around 10 PSI.

If your running different boost setting than i am, you will have to play a little and see which size jets will suit your cars setup.

You will also have to play with different water/Methanol mixes.

I started seeing knock with a 50% Methanol/water mix. I dropped the Methanol down to 35% and saw no knock. I have been told that burning methanol produces more heat than burning petrol.

My system is triggered by an adjustable pressure switch which is connected to the inlet plenum and is currently set to activate at 9 PSI.

Have a look at www.aquamist.co.uk

Dave
