Yep, for a while !!!
A rod bearing failure generally just appears as a rod knock --- a deep bottom end knock that varies with engine speed. The actually spinning of the bearing is the end result of a bearing failure. The bearing and journal finally get so beat up the the bearing just starts to turn on the crank pin.
Mains can also be spun but they don't generally provide the same sound since there is no reciprocating motion. Increase in oil temps and decrease in oil pressure are generally associated with both failures.
Worst case failure mode is when the rod or crank heats to the point where it welds parts together and miscellaneous engine parts exit the block througn newly formed holes.
