The car is a 93 vr-4
1. on occasion when i stomp the throttle it sticks wide open and i have to either lock up the brakes or repeatedly stomp the gas pedel, what is broken that i need to replace? 2. my turbos make very little boost, they used to run very strong but now they wizz, this is my first turbo car,and i just figured that my turbos are just beat up and need to be replaced. is there any way i can check for sure without taking them off the engine 3. i have an apex'i S-AFC 2 and i know very little about it,but i do know the car has RC Racing 550cc injectors, why does my S-AFC make the car run like crap if i put it to "pressure" mode,it only runs in "karman",and what is Karman? it also runs aweful unless i have the whole fuel map set to -15% or lower (i assume its my turbos again) 4. if my turbos arent the problem i think i have a genaric Greddy bov,it looks like the type-s BOV but it doesnt have any of the stickers (its plain purple on the top) that should be it for now, thanks for any input,i really need it Last edited by SpcLarge : 06-21-2006 at 09:38 PM. |

Just like every other thread: PRESSURE TESTING IS YOUR FRIEND.
![]() 1. Your throttle sticking open is probably linked to the rubber gasket in the Ypipe. Get an upgraded y-pipe or replace that gasket. 2. Check for boost leaks. Pressure test your system and fix all leaks. Visual inspection, especially if you are new to it... is for me to poop on. Did you do any mods recently? How did you determine they are making little boost? If you just don't feel as much power... it could just be the climate change. 3. Karman Vortex is the method of which the stock MAS collects the air flow information. You do NOT have a Pressure(MAP) unit. Blindly tinkering without 'any' knowledge can get you into trouble... please do research(Like you are doing now. ). 4. Pressure test. I doubt your BOV would be the problem, unless it's leaking like a sieve. You may also want to check your spark plugs if you haven't done so recently... they are more than likely fouled.

2. How can you tell? By feeling or your false stock gauge? You could be running too lean, which would retard your timing making your car slower and causing serious damage. You could be running to rich and causing more timing pull which would make the car run slower yet again... 3. Keep it on Karman. Like stated above. If your on stock turbos, 550cc injectors are way to big. 450cc are the highest I would go on stock turbos. When the injectors are to big, they cause timing problems which makes ur car run slow. Your probably getting to much fuel. Please check your oil and make sure it does not smell like gas. If it does, change it before you spin a bearing. Also, check your plugs and see what they look like. you can use http://www.stealth316.com/2-sparkchart.htm as a reference to compare your plugs. Learn about injector sizes and why your car is running the way it is here: Tech: My take on injectors vs. timing control vs. HP with the stock ECU Learn about your SAFC here: http://www.stealth316.com/2-safcii-adjust.htm 4. Sounds like you have the knock off ebay BOV. It should be fine. How far in is the screw on the top? What turbos do you have? Do you have a real boost gauge? Do you have a wideband gauge? If not, I would get a wideband as soon as you could. You will then be able to correct your air/fuel ratio and get the car running correct.

the screw on my bov is all the way in,when it blows its extremely high pitched and it blows for quite a while,it doesnt just dump.
right now i just have a stock boost gauge and it reads alot lower then it used to,i knows its not accurate.but it started showing lower boost levels when the car started acting weaker.i have an Autometer boost guage that isnt put in yet, when i ordered it they gave me the wrong one (i think) it shows no vaccum, only + boost from 0-35 psi also how do i pressure test the entire intake system? |

Get Robbeck's pressure tester. Its a great $40 investment. You have a major boost leak if your stock gauge isn't pegging the top...i think it pegs the top after 7 psi. Until you get his pressure tester, pop the hood and listen for any obvious leaks. Check around the throttle body, visible Intercooler pipes and the inlet pipe on the turbos. Make sure everything is tight and you cannot hear any leaks. |
