Default Rebuild ?'s, Gasket set, pistons choices.

So im trying to price everything out for a rebuild. Im planning on keeping things stock since my goal HP is 450-500. But ive got a couple questions...

First, Anybody have any experience with the D&J ROCK pistons from Partsdinosaur.com? Im assuming its $189 for a full set of six and thats really cheap, maybe too cheap. 6G72 3.0 DOHC Turbo Pistons Only 3000GT, Dodge Stealth 1991 -99

Next, I looked all over for gasket sets. Ive searched around and read opinions on ebay kits, 3sx kits, mitsupartsdirect kits, etc. On 3sx there is a non-eom full gasket set with MLS head gaskets, I havent found any info on this kit and it looks to me like a good deal. Anybody have experience with it? Engine Gasket Kit Complete DOHC Non-OEM 3000GT/Stealth*-*Mitsubishi 3000GT*/*Dodge Stealth Parts

Thanks in advance!

Those pistons look like the stock pistons.

As for gasket sets, get the Mitsu gasket set. Yes it's $320, but it'll be worth it in the long run.

They are supposedly same as OE so if im aiming for a stock rebuild would they be ok to use? And it is $189.00 for six right?

Yes its for a set of 6. If you have the whole engine apart, why not spend 400 bucks more and get Wiseco forged pistons?

Im just pricing everything out and looking at all my options. Id like the added security of forged pistons and rods but well have to wait and see. Thanks!

Ah good to know lol Do most ppl just keep the original stock rods when doing a rebuild? As long as they are in good condition it should be ok right?

I wouldn't.

Why are you rebuilding? Just to rebuild? Or did something break?

Stock OEM gasket set. Period.
Stock OEM oil pump and water pump. Period.

If the engine is apart, it's cheap to replace the pistons with a forged piston. Now is the time to do it since it's apart. You can hang them on the stock rods.

Do Not put any sealant on any of the gaskets. Period. They ALL go on dry on clean dry surfaces. Sealant is used on the pan, oil galley plugs, and coolant galley plugs. A little on the cam cap seals is good also. Don't forget to replace the dipstick tube oring. Replace all copper orings, they are 1 use only. They come in the full gasket kit.

And CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. and when you think you have everything clean, clean it.
