Default oil pickup

has anyone ever thought about drilling holes in the top then covering the holes with a screen?

i figured since the screen area sits so far down in the oil pan you could drill holes in the top and just in case of damage to the bottom of the screen the top would still suck in oil.
this has been done before, im just not sure if on our engines. this is nothing new.

If you can gaurantee the whole strainer setup is always submerged in oil the go for it.

For me i think it would be better tio drop the bottom of the sump 10mm or 20mm and add a little more oil than mod the pickup.

What were you thinking? The entire crankcase is not filled with oil, this is a very bad and ill thought out idea.

Keep your pan un dented and keep the proper oil level in the pan.

Don't try to "fix" something that isn't broke by rigging it.
