woah wain now im confised...when i typed my last post your picture did not show up for me, and somebody told me that the sensor was on the intake cam.... i thought it was on the exhaust cam. but all i know for shure is that the cam that has the sensor on it is marked with a "N"

some body who knows please chime in and tell me the answer to the following...

On a 93 Vr4 is the cam sensor on the intake or exhaust cam?

also dose it really matter if i bolt the cam caps down ontop of the seals rather than pushing them in after.... because i do not have the special tool for that.

the sensor is on the exhaust cam in any 93+ 4 bolt block, the manual is correct!!

Its on the intake cam on pre-93 2 bolt blocks.

You can do that, but its difficult to get them in straight.

I used a big socket that was about the exact diameter of the seals, and used that + a mallet to tap them in place, worked great.

Easy way to tell is the cam sensor is external on 1st gen (Intake) and external on 2nd gens (under cam gear)

I wouldn't leave the seals in when installing the caps cause you're very liable to pinch them. To press in the cam seals on cam gear side just use something that's close to the diamater like a piece of PVC pipe. For the other just use a large socket. Or if you in no hurry and pay shipping both ways I can send you the crude tool I made which presses it in .06"
