Yes i've seen that happen several times before when i worked for Mitsubishi- and NOT only on the 3000GT. The accessory belt can get caught behind the harmonic dampener and work it's way into the timing cover where it gets in between the crank gear and Tbelt causing it to skip time. I hope this isn't your case- but losing a outer drivebelt won't prevent the engine from running (unless it's an alternator belt and the battery died).

Jack the car up, undo the driverside wheel, and take the cover for the wheel well off, and see what damage was done to the belts. Like I mentioned, I was thinking the powersteering belt took out the accessory,a nd you just don't have enough power because the battery is dead from running the car without being recharged.

Srry that was a typo it wasnt like that I went Woot and it started actn krazy and i got out of the way of traffic quickly 2 c wth that noise was. Ok so ur sayn take the driver side tire off and than take the covers off and it will expose the belts? Oh one quick question, should I like start searching 4 a motor now? Cuz I thought it was a given if the timing belt flew off or broke or what not that the engine was fuckd.

what would dave thomas do
|
k after reading your stuff something similar probably happened to you like it did to me. your crank pulley is effed and it sucked the belts into the timing belt and it might have jumped a cog or two. just get under there and look for strings coming out from behind the crank pulley... also i wouldn't try to start it
