Default My GTX2863 vr4 build in progress

Ok, so I've only been a member here this year but been a lover of vr4 for years. Snooping around here with past projects, my wife's dr650 ride, a 16g build, and others through the years.

So, with this build I wanted the closest to a dr750 power band, but like another 100+ hp. Hard to be exactly the same I know

So this week I ordered the gtx2863's from dynamic to be fitted to my T3 dr manifolds. I'm shooting a reasonable street car build and I'm shooting for around 700-750 whp. I intend on doing a full body vinyl wrap, but I'll surprise y'all in January.

Following mods bought/installed so far:
1993 3000gt with 99 conversion
Aem true boost
AF wideband
Egt guage
Carbon fiber driveshaft
LW flywheel
720 cc
Wally 400 in tank
Front mount intercooler
4 puck clutch 680 ft lb

Rebuilt stock head, 99 lifters

Rebuilt 4bolt block, factory crank and rods, wiseco forged pistons

PS... My wife and I was at the Texas gathering last month in her red 93 vr4 with the gold 19" rims, it was good to meet some of you and put a face to a screen name!

Sweet...mine won't be up and running until late spring next year. My "might as well while I'm in here" list keeps getting longer and more expensive...lol

You're not gonna get past mid 600s on stock cams though unless you're gonna run e85.

I'll be waiting to see how the build works out Brock. I was tempted to try out some of the GTX turbos but decided I didn't want to sit on parts for another year or however long before I upgrade. I'll be aiming for a similar DR-750 powerband with 100-150AWHP more. I may try out the DR-950s on the 3.0L first just to see what spool is like and then swap in my 3.5L built motor. I think your spool is going to be very early leaving you a 4000 rpm powerband especially if you rev higher.

I am also running direct port meth. Already got six #3 jets and a stage 2 snow kit. This will let me run higher boost with 93 pump

I love the meth injection. I'm running it on my honda drag car at 31 psi+

All in all, I'd say its a pretty simple build. I'm just addressing the weak point in the block (cast pistons), and running a freshly rebuilt motor. I'm more of a street driver than a track guy. It will see the tracks occasionally, but its more satisfying to drive a car on an actual road and have a usable powerband.

you are going that far why not replace the rods too? it's only $600 more and you don't have to be worry about it anymore.

I would with anything over 750, but I've got a lot of trust in the stockers. And many have run 600-700 daily on stockers. Plus I'm getting everything balanced out as well. The way I look at it, the stock heads are going to restrict hp probably short of 750, and my goal for the street car was dr750 ish but another 100 hp. You are correct about it being stronger, but $$$ has to stop somewhere haha.
