The car is bone stock with an intake + y-pipe and boost gauge right now and it spikes about 11 or 12 and holds 9 lbs. It runs great, gets great gas mileage, and I would like to keep it that way for a while. I don't want to hotwire the fuel pump without a afpr and everything because I had bad luckon my other tt doing it without one or a safc.

Thanks!
- its generally accepted that 14 is the TYPICAL safe zone for most cars, some knock at this, some dont.

- you MAY hit fuel cut at 14 psi, most cars dont, mine did, preventing me from revving out fully

either hotwire the stock fuel pump, or swap in a walbro 255 unhotwired- you wont sacrifice any mileage from this- the pump wont be making enough pressure to overrun the system, AAAAAAaaaand guys run a hotwired 255 on the stock fuel pressure regulator with no problems- this INCLUDES MATT M AND RAY P, and for a brief time, myself (until I upgraded to a dual pump- dual feed setup)

get a better recirculated BOV- the stock plastic ones leak, and have a tendancy to cause loss of power- from loss of maintaining boost pressure/ and improper venting. The evo 8/9 bov is an excellent replacement for relatively cheap.

if your down to do a lil extra turbo work to get the most out of your 9bs, port out the step in the exhaust housing to let it breath a little better, it will not do much, but it helps a lil bit if your up for getting into your turbos any....

with your mods listed above and the ones i suggested sans ported 9b's (waste of time in my eyes back then as i was already planning upgrading and throwing them away) I hit 27-28 mpg highway in a 6 spd and roughly 20-21 around town not driving like a hoon. It was a pretty good recipe for me anyway.

I ran 12PSI. dead nuts stock with an exhaust.
I hotwired my pump and cranked it to 14PSI.
installed a SAFC . ran 14PSI.
Installed 450CC's. raun 19PSI to 16 PSI stead down to 13 on the high end.

I cant reccomend this place enough. Its NOT SPLIT SECOND. its split motorsports.
3S/3000GT : Split Motorsports, Breaking-up the Competition! was the kit i ordered. 14$. had everything i needed to hot wire my pump.
I also ordered the shifter bushings. cable and base. after getting the hot wire kit and being so happy with it.
honestly 15Ft of 10Ga is 8-10$.
a 10Ga inline fuse holder is 3-5$.
the 10Ga ring and spade terminals saved me from buying the specific ones i needed at 2-4$ each or a large kit that contained them all for 20.
No affliation or sponser. but i love to pass cheap parts that work around. from places with REASONABLE SHIPPING PRICES.

My suggestion is to yes.. hot wire the pump. and aim for 14PSI on a healther good running car. 12-13 PSI on a dead stock car. IT wont hurt MPG to hot wire a pump. unless you are in boost all of the time.. constantly.

Forgot to mention I have a crushed DSM BOV. I just don't believe it when anyone says that a hotwired pump won't over run the fpr. I read multiple threads where this happened and it also happened to myself!

Its pot luck as to whether or not your fpr can cope. Mine was ok with it for months (I swapped it out for an afpr in the end). If you hot wire your pump, watch over your long term fuel trims, they'll tell you if your fpr can't cope.

you can get the AEM FPR rail adapter from 3sx, it would take the abuse and it looks clean and mounts at a factory location, I was considering doing it when I was considering td04's for awhile

I personally don't think its necessary, but if you don't trust the stock fpr, then feel free to upgrade to a nice, clean factory look the doesnt require custom lines:

What I did with my car was just unplug the line going to the Y-pipe and cap the Y-pipe nipple. It spiked really high but I heard it was safe. Car was really fast except in third gear it wasn't real smooth at WOT.

Give it a try
