I was having this problem and after hours and hours of testing, frustration, and pondering what could be the cause of this problem it came down to be just some freaking cheap spark plug wires I bought from ebay. I bought some OEM wires today from the dealership and the car runs like champ. Men...what a relief!!

I'm having the same symptoms. 1991 VR4. horrible hesitation between 2k and 3k. Hard start. Car runs OK when fully warmed. Getting CEL for volume air sensor and coolant temp sensor, which have both been swapped with known working ones.

FSRMotorsports has swapped and tested all sensors and ignition items so far, although the wires may have been overlooked. I'm swapping in a known working used pair tonight and will report back tomorrow.

I'm looking for a working ECU to test in my car, and will be bypassing ECU<->sensor wires this weekend.

Mann, that sucks. My car is fine now. I think I read that you have new coils and PTU right? This is crazy to have the same problems with differant fixes. Have you slaved in another ECU?

I made a new video of what I think the problem is...
the audio is the most important thing.

I would check for a major exhaust leak, loose hangar, or motor mount causing the exhaust to hit on something. It sounds like the car is idleing pretty good.

Badass- What do you think is it? It definately dosen't sound like a PTU will fix that noise. Speculation--- collapsed lifter??? how is your compression?

DoctorDex- For what it's worth. I have my other 93 ECU. If you can use it I'll send it out to ya for troubleshooting.

your car has an engine miss. you need to figure out if its wires or plugs, coil pack or ptu.
