Recently there was extreme white smoke coming out of my exhaust and found out I blew my front turbo. I couldn't figure out the reason and just thought it was my turbo. When I was tearing everything apart I noticed that the vacuum line going to my wastegates had a huge crack could this be the reason my turbo gave out?
What are some other options other than rubber hose?
Yes... Without wastegate opening, turbo will definitely blow. Replace the vac lines with new ones and just make them part of annual maintenance. It takes less than 5 minuted to check over them. Especially with a vac reduction. Less hoses to check, less chance of vac leak
You could use a hard piping and use a rubber connector, but replacing with new vacuum lines are the easiest.
