Default Heads- Cam Caps need help

I was told that our cam caps are heads specific correct? My heads were detroyed, so I bought a used set of heads from another member on this board and he didnt send me the cam caps. Is there anyway I can use the cam caps from my old set of heads? Or do I have to have them cross drilled to fit the new set? How is this proccess done and is it expensive for a machine shop to do?

thanks,
Lance

take the caps you have and a machine shop can place them, and rebore them for you. its VERY important to not mix them up.

alot cheaper than putting one on and having it melt the journal. thats big bucks! ive read a few threads about just that happening recently. it caused his cam sprocket to sieze and blew his timing belt and ruined his heads. he had just rebuilt his bottom end.

See if you can return them and get a set of heads with the right cam caps

Well I called him back and he said he would ship the caps to me, which was over a month ago. Now he wont answer my phone calls or emails. So i am out of luck. So I was going to try and use the caps from my other set and just have them machined to match the new set. I just want an estimate on how much that would cost?

When I sold a set without the caps, not knowing they were matched I refunded the money when I found out. The seller needs to refund you the money. Even if he sends you the caps, you don't know which ones go where. Who did you buy them from?

I bought them from A_Plus_Remodeling - I mean the heads are fine, but they're worthless without the cam caps...
