Dodge Re: Good way to spend $8,000?

I love your choices on mods... I actually have a 1991 Red Dodge Stealth and I have spent $7,000 on it already in a year. I especially like your choice of the Konig Hotswaps because I just got a set of those in 18's (Black with Red inserts) on my car a month ago and I have not seen a better looking wheel out there. Period. By the way the 18x8 with the 30 offset will fit over the first gen calipers without any sort of spacers. Also the red inserts are an exact match to the factory red paint on my car, so I would say the same for you if your VR4 is red. Also, I would recommend getting the Tanabe Concept G Blue turbo back exhaust as it is the best sounding exhaust out there for our car. Look around and it can be had BRAND NEW for about $1,400 (thats what I paid at least from gripmotorsports.com).

Default Re: Good way to spend $8,000?

If I had exactly $8k to into a completely stock car

IPS quad tip exhaust and downpipe - $1100
CX Racing FMIC kit - $599
19T turbos - $1800
Emanage ultimate with map/ait - $650
Blitz SBC-ID $450
PTE 680cc injectors - $400
SBC Stage 4 FE clutch - $600
IPS flywheel - $350
Fuel Pump - $180
misc gauges - $300
Wideband 02 - $250
Datalogger - $150

thats around $6500 total, I know my figures are no exact but thats a ballpark, leave a couple thousand for having someone help you install the stuff if you are not comfortable doing all the stuff yourself.

Just keep in mind, upgradability! once you get started on these cars you never stop, so money well spent is on parts that will allow you further push the limits. I would get a turbo that you will be satisfied with, 13G's IMO are just not really worth the money when 15G's are relatively close in cost. 19t's would be the best option IMO just because you have the ability to push the limits further with them. Turbos, fuel setup, and clutch are the places I would aim for the best that will fit within your budget, because both can be a limiting factor in the future.

With whatever your setup ends up being, you can't go wrong with an HKS DLI ingnition amp.

And I've got one just sitting in a box ready to ship.

As for the rims, i would say this, Do what you want with your car looks wise, dont do anything to please other people just do what you think will be nice. I just wouldent get them for my car.

With mods. With the ammount you will spend on a fuel controller, boost controller, E-manage, big maf or whatever you will do i suggest just going the extra mile and get a AEM EMS will all the fixins. you wouldet regret it and you will squeeze more power out and you will have complete control of your engine. EVERYTHING. And you will get rid of that stupid mitsu maf system. If you are like me, i love my car loud, exhaust, turbos, BOV and all. I just love the sucking, squishing, blowing, hissing noises that come with a moded turbo car. My car is at 3SX nor getting 10g's worth of work done while im in iraq and im excited. Only 13T's but im setting it up to recieve TD05's in the future with 500 plus AWHP but for now ill enjoy only 400 AWHP untill then.

Yeah but how many people REALLY have a great running car with an AEM? thats because 99% of the people who think they can tune a standalone, can't. It may idle and be tuned at WOT but then they get shit for gas mileage. Its never a one shot deal, you spend months fine tuning and then it still is not 100% IMO the negatives outweigh the benefits.

Figure about $2500-$3k invested in the AEM alone if you pay a good tuner to tune it for you, after the initial cost of the unit, all the goodies to go with it, and the installation.

Thats why I love the emanage ultimate, all the benefits of a standalone(no maf, timing control etc), yet the ease of starting with a factory map and fine tuneability, and relatively inexpensive.

you are right about that, but most people buy the AEM not knowing how to tune it from the begining and thats why their car runs like crap. Almost everyone i know that has one that has it pro tuned loves it. 3SX claims 50 hp from a AEM alone on a stock 9B car so im my opinion there is a lot of up's with it. But thats just me.
