Wow, yeah someone had no clue what the hell they were doing with that rebuild. Even if it isn't a spun bearing, there is something seriously wrong with the engine. What is your oil pressure at?
Also, what are your mods, tuning devices, etc..?
He's offline.. he probably went and hung himself.
I can't say I blame him though. This sounds like something that'd happen to us, doesn't it?
IF it is a spun bearing man, you're not really talking a lot of extra money or time.
New gasket set, and new main bearings. Maybe new turbo oil feed and return lines. Probably new headbolts. Everything else can be hottanked out, and throw in the new bearings.
You're not that far from us, I'd be willing to come over and lend a hand. I'm Sure ViperZ and some of the other would come along.
Plus, you've got IPS right there near you. Chill man, everything will get taken care of.
Yeah.. I know Jeff. They installed a clutch in my 92 a few months ago, and I was supposed to have this in the shop anyway. IPS will be getting this car by tow truck monday, as i'm not starting it until I know to save any additional parts or pain... I've got three of RT/TT's, so you all know the pain as well as I. If it is spun, then 2/3s of my fleet is down with the bearing issue, as I've been shopping another engine for my 93...so i'm already a sad but recovering member of the SBC club. Makes me crazy, as this '92 car was built to be bulletproof and I was going to do another "bulletproof". I'm in OHIO. Thank god I have my 91 running well, and a Charger RT I can scam from the wife.
I've been mentally going nuts all night. I've spun a bearing before, but this sounds very different up close, and different than the 93... I would have guessed a sticky valve/lifter by the noise, as it's not as clunky sounding as all the bearings I've heard before in this car and others. It just sounds like its in the top of the engine rather than the mid/bottom. I actually drove it like this yesterday, and it clicked, then stopped then clicked again. I was actually scheduled to take the ARC2 unit out next week and switch to an EMANAGE system as it's been running rich, and I was going to DYNO it and check the injector cap and see if I could switch to E85 without a fuel injector swap. Anyhow, it clicks at 2800 but stops again after mid 3's. It just seems too arbitrary to be a bearing, and way to narrow of a band. I've been watching the gauges like a kid texting his buddies, and I see no spikes. I check the oil like it was religion. Because the body is new, the hoodpins (scheduled install in 10 days) haven't been installed, it hasn't been over 85mph yet. I didn't even get a chance to hammer on it yet.
I am curious to see the oil pan and look for dings. It sits so low I don't really have the tools to deal with it at home vs. the office, so I can't do a simple lift at the house and just see what the filter looks like or if there's a big dent in the pan, which might explain a spun bearing. I wish these things had a dry system.

Go out and pull your dipstick a couple times, check out the oil, see if you see anything.
If it's coming from the top, it definitely doesn't sound like SBs, but seems too loud and harsh to be lifters and is running too smooth to have jumped timing, so that rules out piston/valve contact.
I think my plan for tonight is to let it sit. I'm going to go have a few beers and knock the edge off for a bit. Then tomorrow once my head is clear I'm going to go do a dipstick check, observe results and order up a nice flatbed tow truck for Monday. I thank all you guys for the help so far. Nice looking Hemi by the way to Firestorm. Our 96' is also stone white. Have different wheels tho and a much smaller dog.
So i pulled the dipstick about 50 times and coffee filtered all the oil. Nada yet. then i did the same thing and felt the oil. Can't feel anything at this point.
Just started clicking loudly yesterday. Here's the video. You can hear it about 9 seconds in. I am guessing valves by location, but if its something really simple, I'll take suggestions.

WOW, This was my car. I heard from the girlfriend of a board member the car had a problem being posted. I totally feel horrible, but want you to know, and others on here will vouch, that the car did not disply these issues when I owned it. (I Only put 2000 soft miles on her, too). I recommended it going straight to IPS for a good tune, as I felt the ARC 2 was unpredictable.
I really disclosed all I knew about the car, and regret it going, even as it now sits. I had to focus on my business, and that was the only reason for the sale. Please keep me informed, I was serious about wanting to speak ongoing about mods, etc. as it was my dream car.
Thanks and sorry for your misfortune,
Bill
