Wing Attack Plan "R" ?
|
Howdy all,
I put the clutch pedal in, started up my car, released the pedal, sat there idling for a minute, then tried to shift into first but the pedal lost all tension. Five minutes earlier, it worked fine. The clutch is an RPS unit with 20,000 miles. The pedal has always been stiff. Since our clutches are hydraulic (not a "line", like in many motorcycles), I assume it is either the fork, the line opening up, or the clutch cylinders (master or slave) going bad. Anyone have any experience with anything like this? Anyone care to share knowledge about this? The search listed mostly about the clutch itself. Thanks. -Pete

if your master or slave are bad, they'll be leaking. check for leaks and have someone else pump the clutch while you do. it could be as simple as the pedal slipped of its... um... yoke (i think that's what it's called).

I agree with Hellbringer. The slave cylinder is the most likely cause of the problem. You can pick up one at Autozone, O'Reiley's, or whatever local parts store around you within a day. It isn't hard to replace once you remove the battery and tray.
