I have a 91 vr4, do, bov boost controller. The car will start but refuses to idle, if I give it gas it will run, as soon as I take my foot off the gas is drops rpm and dies, instantly, like the y pipe is off. The gasket on my ynpipe was folded so I fixed that, reset the ecu. That didn't do anything. Why could this be??
I would do a pressure test and check the resistance on the ISC. If it is original, one of the coils probably went dead, VERY VERY common. I would say over 50% of the ISC that comes on the TBs I get have a dead coil.
Google "stealth316 ISC" it will tell you how to test the ISC resistance.
I did that about two months ago so it shouldn't be all that bad. I think its going to be a terrible boost leak,it could be the y pipe again, is there a secret about putting the stupid thing back on. Or is it really that terrible, never time I have to put it back non I feel like I'm having a bad dream and just hope i wake up

Check to make sure that gasket is not ripped/torn.
Is the ISC original? I would check that FIRST because a bad ISC can destroy an ECU.
Checking the ISC takes all of 5 minutes, and you can do while you are reinstalling your y-pipe after checking the gasket for rips/tears.
Ibdont think its an IAC valve, the count on my blogger is changing and when I pull the mad sensor it idles, low, like 500-600rpm but none the less it idles, and dies instantly when the maf is plugged in.
could be a bad thermistor in the maf, mine was so rusty it practically turned to dust and all i did was touch it and it snapped off, when the maf is plugged in can you drive the car or does it jerk, almost like its running out of fuel?
when it happened to mine it wouldnt idle
Nope nit backfires as soon as you come close to boost, getting it around the block to the front of my house to work non today, doing about ten, accelerating to 15ishnto shift to second since I hate cruising in first,MIT backfired like sixntimes
