I love my money pit!!
|
Hey guys I have a problem after installing my EBC. I am using the PIT + EBC and I have it all installed and the problem I am running into is when I start building boost it only gets to like 6.1 at the most and it seems like it is hesitating while building boost like its jumping up and down..
Here is how I ran it: I ran the vaccum hose from the unit and T'd it off in the FPR line. I disconnected both lines on the stock boost solenoid and capped them off. Does the stock hose that runs to the Ypipe actually run to each wastegate? Thats the way it looked to me so I used that hose and connected it to my new boost solenoid (please correct me if I am wrong) it looked like it had one vaccum to the stock boost solenoid and 2 others that ran to both wastegates...????? so then I ran a new vaccum line off the ypipe to my "boost only" pressure source on the new boost solenoid.... Mabye I am all screwed up here... help me out please this really sucks I have not done the vaccum reduction but will in the future and I know the BCU+ is not a common ebc so lets keep those comments at a minimum please and just stick to the setup... Thank you so much |

Make sure your settings on your EBC are correct be sure you are dialing in a set and gain and not a desired PSI. Start with a set 30 and work your way up use a gain 6-10. 6-7 PSI is indicative of a closed connection where boost is reaching your waste gates but is unmetered.
Your connection should go like this. One line goes from your y-pipe to your new BS, then a line goes that from your BS to the H fitting with goes to both turbo wastergate. Directions take the line that comes from the H fitting and goes to the Y-pipe, connect it to the output of your BS, cap off both lines that go to your stock BS. connect a line from your Y-pipe to your input on your new BS, Cap both lines that go to your stock BS.

that is what I have, mabye it is a setting with the boost controller? I have the vaccum line that used to be on the y-pipe going to the new solenoid...(this is the one ehat runs down to the rear wastegate and has the stock h fitting, and blocked off the line that goes to the stock boost solenoid..
I have another vaccum running from the y-pipe to the boost side of the new solenoid... Can someone give me help on setting up this EBC.... it has start boost setting, which I set to 7.5, it has low and high boost setting which I have at 7.5 and 15, it has High and low gain which I have set at 80%... and warn at 16 .. Does anyone use this BCU + EBC that can help? |

Looks like I have the problem solved...mostly... I was running on my low boost setting of 7psi I went to the high boost which is set at 15 and have been playing with the gain a bit... I am boosting around 12-13 psi and the gain is real touchy I am trying to get around 14.5 to 15 ....where should I set my Warn setting to tell me of overboost? I have it set at 17 should I increase that a lil bit...
one question.. if I have a boost leak can that cause a little fluctuation and a little bit of overboost? when I get on it hard it will spike to a little above 17 so I get the cut and red light on EBC... actually all in all I am impressed with this EBC ...! |

Umm if your running a stock setup (stock fuel, stock ecu) you shouldn't go higher than 14.5PSI. Spiking to 17PSI is unacceptable, try reducing your gain. The higher the gain the faster the turbos come on but boost spiking increases as well. There is nothing wrong with having a lower gain it generally results consistent boost throughout the rev band where a high gain results in a boost spike then corrective measures that results in a degraded performance.
