The tensioner for the power steering belt is dead in our '91 Stealth RT/TT. It's the V Belt set up. Only problem is, the tensioner isn't available anywhere. Can I just swap out the crank and pump pulleys and update to the multi-rib belt? I have to get this car on the road quickly.
Have you tried looking for a used/good one from a partout?
You could swap the crank pulley to the ribbed but, I think you would also need to change the alternator and AC pulleys. That may be a bit more work than you're looking to do.
Thank you very much, guys. Appreciate the help. I'm feeling really grateful that I took this thing to a mechanic for the fist time to take care of this one. They've been great about all the time they're putting into sourcing parts. Pass on this information and they're on it. Whew. We'll get it fixed. I was getting nervous there for a minute.
