Default 1st gen. knock alert???

Today I installed my autometer boost gauge and mbc. The controller does'nt spike and I don't have any boost leaks. I made one run with the 10psi setting. It held 10 and only started to drop off in high rpms. After some more quick runs I accidentally hit 15 psi. Oops. After a few more runs I fine tuned it at 14 psi. The only problem is on a long pull after I hit full boost at 14 psi I hear a long beeeeeeep until I let off. I'm assuming this is the stock knock alert unless someone put one on my car. It only happened a few times. How bad would the count be at 14 or could it just be false knock? I also thought you would'nt get much knock or any knock at 14 psi. I think it beeped once at 13 psi too. Could the knock alert beep but a datalogger monitor no knock??? Any help is appreciated. I don't really want to keep stock boost until I can buy a piggyback fuel system.

Is that what that beep is?! i always thought that was my boost gauge leaking. So does that mean i am getting knock? It holds a solid beep when i build up rpms. I am very curious about this also.

on my sbc-id it beeps when you go over your warn setting. it sounds like the autometer gauge might have one of these built into it.

I have an auto gauge from Ebay that was like $15. I really think this is what is making that beeping noise. It always happenes at the same boost level, i always thought it was a leak in my gauge because that's where the sound was from, and because i never noticed it before i installed the gauge. Maybe they have some kind of setting.

No...they don't. That's still pretty funny to hear. "Knock Alert!" Sound like "Warning:Extreme Manifold Damage" and the floor boards fall out.

you know when i first got the car mine did that too when i hit full boost in the higher rpms and my car was bone stock. it scared the shit out of me cause i just got the car and i was like whoa... beeping? my car would also jerk back and forth very quickly right before the beep so i made sure i didnt do it again whatever it was. then i decided i was going to find out what the beep was for and then my cars starter died and the dealer told me i needed a new engine. no lie. so i started ripping the engine apart to see if there was damage to the block cause the dealer told me it wasnt rebuildable and then i found out it was only the starter, when i put it back together... it never happened again. so it could def be knock i dont know for sure tho.

id still like to know what it is even tho it doesnt happen anymore

Well later today on the way to work I hit full boost a few times to see what would happen and no beep. But I got off work tonight and hit full boost coming home once and it beeped. Its not a beep beep its a long beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep until I let off. It sounds like it may be the gauge though. I have an autometer black faced 52mm 20psi gauge. It glows blue also. Thing is before I installed the controller/gauge I had the free boost mod done and no beep ever. After boost controller/gauge it even did the beep at around 12.5psi. Maybe the beep is when the boost stabilizes at full boost on the gauge since it only does it when it hits full boost. Anyone know? I guess I could hook up my friends logger and see if its knocking. If not it has to be the gauge.

Now that you have the boost controller set why dont you disconnect the gauge for a run or two and see if it is still beeping?

I had this same problem. It turned out that my clutch booster hose didn't have a check valve in it. It could also be your brake booster hose as it has a check valve in it. Check these hoses and if one doesn't have a check valve you need to order one and the beeping will go away.
