Default Re: 1st gen datalogging info

Does anyone else have the AEM wbo2 0-5V analog output hooked up to the SM3, and is also logging with MMCd? I have MMCd 1.8g, SM3 1.71

I was curious about what the SM3 manual refers to when it says "MMCd has configurable features to allow logging of the Scanmaster analog inputs" [p.9]. Do I just set the data substitution setting on the SM3 for DSb - A/F ratio to "2" (analog input 1), and the MMCd software will report A/F instead of Batt volts?

Does MMCd require any setting be changed to use this feature? I can't find the so-called "configurable features" for the SM3 in the MMCd program. I see the one for the EGRT, but not for the analog inputs, and I want to use the analog input (for many reasons).

It seems to me that they really mean the SM3 has the "configurable features" to allow for it's analog inputs to be read by the logger. Can anyone tell me if this is correct?

Didn't read the whole thread, but are you trying to connect a UEGO to the SM3? If so, the scaling on the UEGO doesn't match what the SM3 is expecting to see and neither have adjustable scales so it won't work properly.

However, you can connect it to the EGR port and use MMCd as the scaling is adjustable on it.

Yes I have the UEGO trying to hook it up to SM3. I read that the scales didn't match, but the values were still accurate? I don't remember where. I'll try it the easy way (analog) first. I think the UEGO comes with a table for voltage and corresponding AFR, I'll have to check.

The EGRT scaling options in MMCd are: "3.0, 2.5, or 2.0 BAR; Wideband O2; EGRT; 0-5V"
The EGRT "input" on MMCd 1.8g says: "Allows selection of scaling for user provided sensors connected to unused EGRT input on 1G Federal ECU." "WBO2 is scaled so a 0-5V input = 8.0 - 22.0 AF." EGRT-->AFR is the only choice if using just MMCd, and there is only one scale for AFR.

The sm3 has nice data substitution options. The default nbo2 display can be changed to show AFR through the analog input. When logging, the data channels can be swapped also: "Data Substitution Battery. Displays AirFuel Ratio data on external loggers BATTERY VOLTS" Apparently, logging the battery volts with this option set will in fact show the AFR.
***EDIT***
OK Install, testing, and setup is done. Anyone who doubted the usefullness of the SM3...the thing is awesome. The analog input does not need to be scaled, the AFR is the same at all times as AEM. Now I have AFR and knock at a glance!! And, the SM3 can be set to output this AFR as battery volts when logging with MMCD. This setup is so sweet, I can't believe how well it works and how even I could figure out how to set it all up. You might have to buy a cable($10-$20), but that's way better than buying and installing more sensors.

If anyone wants help logging their WB with sm3/mmcd just let me know, the options on the sm3 can be a bit tricky. Hope this is helpful.
