Default 13T Tuning -- Dyno Results Soon

Worked on CANENAC's bad ass Spyder today/tonight... Fixed a lot of potential boost leaks including the throttle body o-rings and started tuning... Quite literally starting from nothing. (I'm actually posting this from the Holiday Inn that Keith is staying at).

Got it fairly dialed in ... O2's are staying between .92 and .96v at WOT in 3rd and knock..... Well, the knock counts have been a bit strange. CANENAC has 3SX Polyurethane motormounts (all 4)... As soon as he mashes the gas on the highway, he gets up to 8 counts of knock... It tapers down to 0 and in the higher RPM's there's no knock.

I suppose potential causes of the false (at least what I would conclude is false) knock would include the driveshaft (old carrier bearings?)... But I don't see how it could be bad enough to produce this.

We're running around 13 psi right now, and I have a feeling at the knock we experience at 15 psi is caused by oil leaking past the valve stem seals.

It's all good though... Race gas rules ... We'll play around with it some more tomorrow and he's going to give me an hour to fine tune it on the dyno and really stretch these turbos out. Should be sweet. Of course, we'll keep you updated.

I recently installed 3sx poly mounts as well and when I mash the gas I somtimes see some knock up to ~10. I don't think it's the tune... and it was way worse before the 3sx mounts.

Some people have told me that old carrier bearings / driveshaft can lead to false knock, I've got a 1 piece PST CFDS coming to me so some time next week I'll be albe to let you know if replacing my stock driveshaft eliminated my knock counts.

I'm interested in how much power you guys can squeeze out of the 13T's... what are you using for air / fuel tuning?

If he's got an aftermarket downpipe on the Spyder, they sometimes bang against the firewall. I think the firewall frame is a bit thicker on the Spyder, so less clearance. That could be the source of your knock. My downpipe pretty much sits against the firewall, even with the poly mounts.

Also very interested to see some dyno numbers from the 13Ts and a good tune. Contemplating whether to do the 13T upgrade or hold out for the 19T compressor wheels

I've got a 13T WRX turbo just sitting here screaming 'SEND ME TO ROB BECK'

Cool man hopefully you get the kinks worked out. Think his transient knock is fuel related? Perhaps FPR is reacting slowly....

I cant wait to hear how it goes Adam since I am still planning on going with 13Ts through Rob when you get that next batch going. Although my 9Bs didnt let me down last night as I took a 13C turboed VR4 about 4 different times (Adam- I showed Dave and Javier what the DSM SMIC were about last night)

Good to hear your working on a car equipped with 13Ts. Your opinion on these turbos could be the decision between me following through with 13T set-up and going another route. Definatley keep us updated.
