Default The Official 2008 NorthEast Drag Day thread (May 15th-18th)

Hello All,

As you've undoubtedly guessed by it's title, this thread will serve as the official thread for the NEDD '08. NEDD has grown from it's beginnings as a single day at the track and has become a full fledged gathering. Please join us on May 15th-18th for a fun filled weekend of hot cars, cool people, great food, and action packed events.

The NEDD Committee has gone to great lengths to find the perfect venue for our inaugural event. After careful consideration Maple Grove Raceway has been chosen to be this years host raceway.

We will be renting the track for the entire afternoon (12pm-5pm) at a cost of only $50/driver! Yes you read that correctly, unlimited runs on the track for $50/driver, that's roughly $10/hr to run as many times as you'd like. Our group will have sole usage of the track and it's facilities, so you won't have to worry about being there the whole afternoon and only getting 4 runs in

Tech inspection will be "light," though we'd like to limit this to street cars only with the appropriate DOT approved tires (no slicks boys and girls). As with the SEDD, please be aware of NHRA rules for drag racing will be in effect: helmets, long sleeves, closed toed shoes, roll cage requirements, etc.

Ozzy's Sports Fun Center

Ozzy's (http://www.playozzys.com/) will be giving us free reign on Saturday between 6pm and closing. The entry fee is $25 for food, and unlimited activities:

Go-Karting

Rock Climbing:

They also have Laser Tag (5,000 square foot facility, allowing up to 30 players at a time!), Roller Skating, and two Mini-Golf Courses. All of this included in the $25 entrance fee that you will pay once we arrive at Ozzy's!

*Note on Go-Karts* Between 6pm and 7pm we will be having a "Precision Driving" challenge in the Go-Kart facility. Drivers will be given one lap to learn the track followed by a timed lap. Best lap wins the challenge and a trophy At 7pm the challenge ends and we open it up to those NEDD participants that did not wish to participate in the challenge. The carts are limited to 22mph and will be running on race slicks.

The facility will be closed to all outside of the NEDD, so we don't have to worry about getting in as much racing as we'd like!

P.S. Everyone gets a plate of BBQ and a drink! Ozzy's will be gating off our parking area so that outsiders won't have access to our cars. We'll be able to have fun and not worry about our vehicles!

The UTI Experience

Universal Technical Institute, co-organizers and sponsor, has agreed to open it's campus, facilities, and instructors to us. As stated above we will be holding the car show on the main campus of UTI on Saturday May 17th @ 11am sharp.

During the car show, judging, and other festivities UTI will be offering an unprecedented VIP tour of their facilities. This tour will give us full access to the instructors, programs, shops, etc.. offered by UTI. I for one am looking forward to a full explanation of their manufacturer specific training programs.

Breaking NEWS!!!!!
UTI has offered to open their chasis dynos - for the super low price of $100 per car. Instructors will be there to set the cars up and offer tuning tips. This will be on Saturday. This is not open to the general public, only people who are attend the NEDD! You can set up for the car show and will be given a time slot to come over to the dyno. Once you are done; simply move your car back to its slot for the car show. Even if you aren't going to dyno your car, you aren't going to want to miss this! You can pay for this when you get there, but must be pre-registered with the NEDD and sign on the list below.
The $100.00 fee will cover two 15 minute sessions. First 15 minute session for base line dyno they would then pull car off dyno, work on car, then get back in line for final 15 minute session
*Note* The dynos are for 2wd cars only, the Exton campus does not have an AWD dyno.

UTI DYNO list - $100 for 3 pulls, 2wd only.

After the tours and car show we will have our catered banquet/luncheon. The menu is still being reviewed but we should have food that makes everyone happy We will be giving out the awards for the drags, go-kart challenge, and car show at this time.

The Cruise

PA has some of the most beautiful valleys and mountains you'll find in this country. We will be taking the back-roads through the hills and mountains to our destination:

Stolen from Kevin..thanks brother!

This will be a most excellent photoshoot!

I am sure that I am leaving crap out, I'm tired and I have a touch of the flu...I'll check back in the morning, but lets hear what you guys think

Definitely stoked for this one, it's also right in my backyard. Hopefully the car will be running in time for this since it's later now than originally discussed. But I'll be attending regardless!

I could check with my parents and see about having some people crash at my place also, It wouldn't be the Ritz but there's some couches and floor space. I'm about 20-25 minutes away from UTI and Exton though.
