Default thought i spun a bearing.

after haveng a hell of a time figuring out why my car wasnt starting after my headlift fix(new hg's). thought it was the battery, then sprk , fuel, ect....it was a boost leak. got it fixed and after i changed the oil started her up. she was making a clattery sound from the timing belt area and there was some screaching. thought for sure it was teardown time. thank god i didnt have my hood on yet cause i wouldnt have seen the bits of black rubber beiing flung up in the air from my timing belt. i shut it off and looked. the ps belt had started to fry but i didnt know why.

the plastic tb cover has a bolt at 7 oclock on the crank area. theres supposed to be a metal spacer in the cover but it was missing, so i used one i had found on the floor(thinking it had just slipped out), MISTAKE! it was taller and caused the bolt to stick out anout 3mm and it was hitting the inside of my 3sx crank pully. prob why i had a hell of a time cranking it, duh!when i removed it there was slivers of alum around the bolt wich had come loose from the pulley hitting it. results, pully fried, had to go to backup stocker. could have been much worse, feeling lucky today!

omg man... you have to pull apart your engine to replace that pully or is it a pretty easy fix?

it's an easy fix...he has cam lockers,s o resetting the timing should be a snap once he gets a new pulley and new hardware (you are gonna use the right bolt this time, right? hehe)

its not as badas you all think. because the pully was made from aluminum the belt lip just smushed out of the way. only a few slivers were packed at the bolt head. looks like it was just barely able to hit the bolt and, eventually unthreaded it enough for it to really grab and, bent the bolt out of the way. the piece i used off the floor(really a bag of random bolts leftover from reapirs) is the same dia. and is for a diff plastic panel. it was a tad longer than the other one in the bag. i had a 50/50 chance. didnt know till today there were 2 in the bag. it could have ben worse! put my stocker on for now, timing is still good. im moving this thing out in the yard for the winter tonight, before i break something else.

ahh nice pic I see where it took off some of that stripe going around it.. No need to park it outside though. next time you work on it you'll be cold for a while letting all the cold air in your garage, lol.

this is why you've been through 5 engines already haha....wouldn't that filing mess up the balance of the pulley?

lmao, dang I thought Jason had been through a lot of engines. Yeah I looked at the pulley I'm not sure how it would affect things if he filed down the rest of it.. wouldnt fit the same anymore i would think?
