its kinda hard to meet at a sanctioned event, due to insurance purposes, so anyone coming that is not participating has to be outside the gates. sorry. thats just the rules.
sometimes they do designate a spectator area. you sign a waiver and get a wristband, sorta like a backstage pass.

i already told Songsay I might end up going, I'll just have to get some more details on how (to watch) since Im not an SCCA member (yet).

Also, I've been debating with myself next Monday having a dinner with friends/family at LoneStar or something like that... 3s members included of course. (I leave Teusday morning next week)

dont think they like it when a green 3000gt and a red stealth plow through a hilly grass field next to the course either...

Man, I got so many friends/family, hopefully some restaurant will be able to accomdate everyone I want to come!! I'll start making phone calls in the next couple of days, but I first have to see if I can get that kind of reservation. I'm thinking 6:30-7ish.

I have recently been appointed to board of directors for the arctic region of scca!!!

we got some good events coming up soon.

we have whats called a drag. not in the sense that you are accustomed to where two cars travel in a straight line. but in an autocross sense, where two cars are on course at the same time on opposite ends and you race to the end. pretty awesome.
also got a summer rallycross scheduled for alaska race way park. im thinkin if i spend 800 on a beater i gotta up keep it and store it and all that. but if i spend 800 on an adjustable suspension i can just raise the car for rally cross and lower it for solo!!!

if any one has any questions about events, rallycross, solo, road rally. feel free to message me.
the calendar of events was discussed tonight at the board of directors meeting and a schedule will be out this week.
i will post it up for anyone who would like to participate in auto sports that doesnt involve driving around northern lights blvd late at night.

Well this is how saturday went.
was the first to arrive. it was a beautiful sunny morning with the mountains surrounding. the temperature rising and rising. watched as each competitor showed up and thought, oh crap, gonna have to drive like i have never driven before. we had the usual line up of EVO, Sti, but had awesome cars like the MINI cooper and Porsche Cayman, Triumph.
Well the first few runs started off ok. i was a lil nervous. the course was great. turned in a time of 44 seconds. fasted drivers turned in 40 second runs and one even hitting the 39 second spot.
well, car had an oil leak problem after the lunch break, almost had to take a DNF. but fellow drivers came through and let me and my co driver drive their cars. Well well well, let me tell you what i drove!!!
The 2006 Porsche Cayman. Red with tan interior. Mid engine, rear wheel drive with slicks and volks. I was kinds nervous at first and took my first of 4 runs pretty conservative to get the feel of the car. Once i got used to it, i turned a 41 second run with the Porsche.
If this isnt an ad for Porsche, i dont know what is. That car is something else. It was soooooo easy to drive. It turned, it stopped, it went, exactly where i wanted it to with little effort. It made my 3000gt seem like a neanderthal. I was thourougly impressed with the Porsche Cayman. My co driver got to drive the Porsche on the fun run, while on the regular runs she was able to get into an Evo 8. The end of the day saturday we were burnt. It got to 76 degrees and of course with it being "summer" here the sun was out till after 10pm.
Got back to Anchorage around 8pm, started tearing into the car around 9:30pm to find where that oil leak was. tightened up some bolts on the pan and an oil feed line. fixed a idle problem as well and switched from the Toyo t1r to the Yokohama Ao46. If this isnt another advertisement, the Yokohama are amazing. 140 treadwear, soft and soooooo grippy it was unbelievable. like a totally different car. not like having slicks or anything like that. though i contemplated the idea, slicks, coilovers. but then i thought, after spending all that money, i could have a smaller lighter, more maneuverable car.
Ok, so Sunday morning. More sunshine, even hotter than before. The 3000gt was better with the oil leak fixed and the sticky tires. turned in a time of 43 seconds. Fasted car of the day turned in a 39. I got to do a ride along in a Toyota MR2. Wow, what a zippy, maneuverable car. It just makes me realize how big and unmaneuverable my car was. especially after going on some test drives the week before. test drove a few MINI coopers. man, those can turn and go straigt too. wow. thinkin i need a smaller car.
Fastest time of the day went to an Evo 9, with no engine mods, just coilovers and sway bars. let me tell ya, that car was amazing to watch. it screamed. also the Sti's were monsters too, those cars can go and turn as well.
had aaron out on the second day. he was driving his stealth with just the 13g modification. he really enjoyed his first time out to autocross.

the next event will be on Memorial day, its a monday. so stay tuned. who knows, i might be driving a porsche by then, ha ha ha.
