Living in Clarksville, TN, next to Ft. Campbell and the national park Land Between the Lakes, there are a lot of American Civil War memorials and cemetries that are hidden and unaccessible by roads. Anyways 3 years ago when I was out driving at Land Between the Lakes, I decided to go off road and see if I can find anything. Well, I did. I came across a Confederate Army grave and memorial and it took my breath away. These 5 soldiers were put in stone because they were able to fend off the advancing Union forces for one day and one night but they were eventually over ran because of supplies.

I took this pic because it was one of the most amazing things I saw so Im just sharing.

Wow. Just wow.

Thanks for sharing that. What an awesome find.

I'm a southerner... Now that we're past the 100+ year mark, can we just feel proud for men of both sides who acted heroically, regardless of the side they fought on?

When all that's left is a tiny marker beside the road for 5 men who faced the ultimate terror, walked with it, and fell...

that's the time I think we should all take our hats off and remember.

GREAT POST

Mike
