Shot all of these free hand at sunset testing out the lens. Yea she does hunt a bit in low light...some of the pics came out a touch soft. P.S. I shot these all freehand.

Looks pretty dang crisp. More so than my 28-135 kit lens. I mean you are finally taking shots at night without flash, or without long exposure blur. Isnt it great? My first night with my 17-50 i was in my friends car and taking free hand shots of oncoming cars. I was amazed with the results. I hear you on the focusin issue though. Tammys seem to have that problem. You can find ways around it though. Any issues with daylight front focusing?

So what finally made you decide to go this route and not the 17-50mm 2.8? You liking your range on that lens?

No issues during the day, though I realized that I have to flip the hood in crap/low light situations otherwise I get blur! WTF? I noticed most of my portraits are in the 25mm+ range and I don't need a 17mm focal length right now. It'll prolly bite me in my ass when I go to shoot that GT-R next week, but eh...I can always move back 3 steps. I love this lens.

Yea, the low light ones get blurry at times. Im pretty sure its due to the focus hunting problem. It just sucks not noticing until im done with PP. As a guy that started off with a 28mm...good luck. I love the angle on my 17mm. i feel like its two lenses in one(wide angle/portrait). Yours will be perfect when you upgrade to FF though, so you really didnt do bad.

So whats your setup now?

BTW i just posted some shots of a GTR i shot at a drift comp in Vegas. Check it out.

Good setup. im a little jealous about the upgrade though. That should be fun.

Also, are you adding the vignetting, or is that coming from the lens?

A little of both actually. The lens seems to vignette a bit on it's own...I only shaded the corners though.

I am picking up a 1ds next week if all goes well. I can't wait! Though I AM tempted to just wait another week and buy the 1ds MKII...it's only $800 more.

If I did that I'd just buy Sam's. The 1ds has a lot of cool features though. I'm taking a trip to Cuba and possibly Palestine/Israel shortly....I need something with way better weather sealing than I currently have.
