^yea but the lady at ritz was trying to sell me a $30 clear uv filter from quantary...ill go on newegg or something and order from there
thanks for the info but for knowledge sake....what is the difference bw a polarizing and a clear uv? polarizing for intense sunlight?

I still stand by my statement that the reason your pics are dark is because your shutter speed is way too fast for the amount of light you were shooting in. The EXIF data from your images confirms this.

Haha, what? No, experiment with different apertures (f/stops), as they will lend themselves to different effects. Generally, the sharpest images happen in the f/8-f/16 range. Anything below, or above those apertures will look slightly out of focus due to either a wide open aperture, or diffraction. Remember that as you decrease the size of the aperture (larger number), you increase your depth of field, or the area of the image that is in focus. Also, looking at those night time photos, you seem to have a circular polarizer, not a UV haze filter.
