That last picture is fascinating. Not sure why, but it is.

This was actually taken with a Canon Digital Rebel (first gen) with the standard 18-55mm Kit Lens... One of the first pictures I ever took when the rebel first came out haha... Since then, ive got an XTi and a variety of lenses, but I still have some excellent shots from when i used the kit lens

LOL...you have got to be kidding me? Just goes to show that its not all about the gear. I would be proud of taking that shot with the old rebel (6mp?) and kit 18-55 mm lens. Just...wow...

Haha yeah, It looks pretty nice printed out and framed too. And you are right it isn't always about the Equipment (but that does help tremendously) ... I've taken some pretty impressive shots with my little canon powershot ELPH's... S400 and SD400

Ha ha, me too. I didnt know i had Canon Elph competition. I love those little cameras. I started off with my SD200, then SD1000. Every once in a while i go back to those little guys because they are just so much fun to shoot with.

So are you still rocking the Rebel, or have you upgraded?

Right now, Rebel XTi with 17-55mm f2.8 IS on it most of the time. also 50mm f1.8 (at its price everyone should have one) and an old FD macro zoom lens with a converter ring.... No real need to upgrade the rebel body to a T1i or anything, it still does great. Money is going into the lenses, and I've made a commitment to the EF-S series since i got the 17-55mm... Next up 10-22mm EF-S wide angle and 60mm macro.

Eventually I'd like a 5DmkII and some L-series lenses (full frame CMOS ftw) but, alas I can't afford one right now, so the money is going into lenses and lighting... Although The lenses will always have great resale value if i wanted to trade up at some point.
