fuji finepix s5200??

Ok guys i need some advice, is anyone familiar with this camera? i bought it over a year ago it looked pretty sweet with its 10x optical zoom etc. but it don't seem to take great pics even set at the full 5 mega pixel in finepix mode. i have tried all kinds of settings that just get grainier each time. i think my sony ericson w810i used to take better pics. this first image is full size of what this camera does set on 5meg finepix in auto mode the next is in natural mode. i know i have a lot to learn with lighting etc but quality seems dull or is it simply the digital thing rather than actual film thing?

I used to have a fuji S3100 and that looks about the same quality wise

for a point and shoot it looks pretty normal to me
