I'm looking for comments on the composition and not what should or should not be done in photoshop. Just trying to see how I did what I can do when I take the picture to get a better one.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm using a Canon IS S2 so keep that in mind as you make suggestions. Thanks

Cut out the legs from underneath the red vr4... they're distracting. Other than that, that pic is awesome.

I really like the shot of the dog. The only thing I might play with in PS is there is some white noise or something near the end of his snout where it meets the window sill. not sure what it is, but might see if I could get rid of it. Not crucial though, good shot. Also the Black spots on the upper Right and Top Right of the Frame. Not sure what those are.
The Stealth, I would remove the light post. When composing shots watch for random crap sticking out of your subject, trees, light poles, legs, etc. =P Same with the 3rd. The only thing I would change in the 4th is that Little treetop or whatever is showing in the background to make the Horizon uninterrupted. Though I might also play with the levels a little bit, it seems a bit underexposed because of the low light, but don't change anything if it costs you the colors in the sky, they are awesome.

Alan, the dog shot is very well composed, though maybe a bit on the dark (underexposed) side. The two 3/S shots, the backgrounds are a bit distracting, as there is quite a bit going on in them. Also, with the car shots, you need to watch the horizon, as yours seems to be a bit tilted. That can be fixed to some extent in PS or other programs however, so it's not that big of a deal. The photo pf the Lotus is excellent composition wise, but a tad on the underexposed side. Now, don't delete the thread lol.

Im with everyone on the dog picture. it looks kinda timeless. you really caught the emotion, the 'moment'. only changes I would do would be selective coloring (leave everything B/W except for the eyes).
2nd pic is ok in the angle. its not a DSLR so i wont comment on the color reproduction. but if any changes were to be made, I would clone out the post and slightly blur out the background. 3rd one would also improve a bit with selective coloring (leave everything but the car in B/W). 4th can be categorized as a classic case of patience in photography. the moment was to happen or just happened. without the guy, it would have been perfect. so waiting a few seconds as he got in, or shooting the pic just before he got there would have really captured the 'moment' ![]()

Might help to crop it down to at least below the big hunk attached to the post? (Same with the legs under the 3000, as mentioned) Imagine how good that Red 3K picture would look with the same emptiness beside it as in the following Lotus pic. Love that 3K/helmet pic, but the extraneous stuff takes away from it a bit. |
