The only really good way to make the wing is well, gonna be expensive so its unlikely there will be much if any savings over buyin an OEM wing except for a pound or two in weight savings.

For what its worth, the demographic on 3si doesnt support a 900 dollar OE quality replica wing to make it work producing them imo. not to knock anyone, but its true, a 1 thousand dollar wing is, well, a thousand dollar wing lol.

Yep install will cause a problem in the wing. Not sure if you remember the chameleon colored car at NG with the combat wing. Mine is set forward by about 1/8 of an inch and thus it does not sit flat. Causing some cracking and what not. Its an OEM wing I was told but I am not sure.

Thanks for raining in on our parade Jason...... I will probably end up getting an oem wing, but no harm in trying right

LOL, that is funny. Wood would definitely not be the best material to make the wing out of! Seriously though, a carbon fiber cross beam wouldn't be a bad idea along with aluminum posts perhaps. What do you guys think?

Some kind of inner support would be a must from what I've heard. Aluminum ribbing or something. I wouldn't know what design would give the most support, for the lowest price, and be easiest to incorporate into manufacturing. If I had the spare time, I'd make some designs on CAD or something. But I don't.

If I happen to come across a broken one I would like to play around with different bracing.

Yeah, with a semi transparent stain and about a 100 coats of marine spar varnish. Sweet.lol

Seriously though, I haven't had any problems with my wing and I hadn't heard of any cracking problems from any 99VR4 owners. I have put some miles on mine and at pretty high speeds.

I read somewhere that the engineers designed that wing to be functional not just for visual effects.lol

I bet the engineers would have #$%$# their pants at high speed if that wing was flapping all over the place. In fact, seeing how the center is aluminum, it probably did happen with the first wing they put on it.

Umm what is y'alls take on this wing from aerokits.com? It is full cf and also would a 99 wing fit on a base model in place of the stock wing?
