Thats the question its an Australian delivered 1996 , red 3000gto it has done 36000 kms , and is as shiny underneath as on top, never been in the rain and smells new, it has the origional tyers and books, no mods just a six stack player with the origional radio and a boost gauge, 1 years reg and the plates may go with it, 'SUDDEN' the stock sticker from the factory is still on the front window, no rattles , squeeks, or vibrations, its first owner was Misubishi in SA and the CEO's wife, drove it, it is suspected to be tweeked, ie turbos etc, as other owners says it goes better than standard, it can be insured with any Australian insurance company, as it Australian delivered, a great money saver. I am thinking its time to go to a better home, as I never get to drive it, the last time was to the Melb meet at the airport and soon I will be to old to realise its mine, hahah, not.
What is the best methoid or place to sell it? auction, paper or internet?
Some people on here bring them in from Japan and dont realise the end cost of there thrashed masterpiece, when there are a few, but far between gems like this still hiding out there, in 1996 there were 4 sold in Australia, according to Misubishi, mine being one of them
You are going to get what someone is prepared to pay; I don't think the Redbook is an accurate guide for your car. I think $35-40k is not unreasonable; but you still have to find the buyer.
If its as you say id ask 35k, i brought my 93 Aussie Del. for 34k and im the second owned, with the car still in factory condition. There were only 115 Aussie delivered cars brought over here, just need to find the right person who appreciates that....maybe a gto meet before you sell it?
3000gto? Must be a one only! $35,000? Come on kids. It would be nice to realistically think we could get that much. If it was a Supra or R33 GT-R in same condition, then maybe. Why? because people know those cars. They don't know about the 3000GT except it's a big, heavy, drive train wrecking pig of a car.
Warick - you have at every chance bagged the JDM cars. Can i ask you politley to pull your head out of your behind and understand that not ALL cars from Japan have been thrashed. Unless you are at the port checking all cars that come in to Oz you are talking out of your behind which is pretty impressive due to the fact your head is blocking the way.
Good luck selling your car. Hopefully the next person to buy it will actually drive it lots.
Thanks Ozdave, Pristine is where they all start don’t they? even the Japanese imported ones, Scottie has a problem especially with a hat wearing kangaroo stuck up his backside, he seem restricted, heaven knows when he tried to get a refund for that pillar pod he bought and owned, for 3 years and then found out the car he drives must have had a shunt as the pod did not fit, he was seen to be bleating then, to the manufacturer, for a refund, no one can say all the 25000 mile imported (most have there clock wound back to that reading) Mitsubishis are wonderful, I am yet to read where some one just got in a drove off the wharf and into the sunset, what with having the disguised rust removed and the bad repairs fixed to the getting it on the road, why would you not find an Aussie one first, any one with a grey import is sure to say what they say, who can blame them, they jumped in and married the ugly girl.
Not that that cant be fun some times, especially if the lights are out or you are driving at night, anyway they tend to spend most of there time on garage jacks waiting for some mechanic to get them going again, I'm only guessing, as mine has never not started, it would effect me to a degree I am sure.
GTO assasin has been more up in the air than on the road, I read and look at all the parts he is trying to palm off, imagine the cost of those imports from year to year, everyone seem to be talking about having some thing fixed or not working, or planning to have it going by next month, I suppose me not driving mine much is the same as them not being able to.
We spend a lot of money to improve the performance of our cars and take great pride in what we do. It is totally inappropriate to take a position that if the car is not locally delivered it is shit. This just is not true.
The Oz delivered cars were not VR4 versions, their boost was lowered and rims narrower; no leather. A small adjustment to boost and you get a car that goes better than standard.
In the end they all came out of the same factory.
Give some respect to people that spend a lot of time and money in enjoying what they.
You have a pristine unmodified car that is not, repeat not, seen as a REAL performance car; unless it is modified to overcome its overweight basis.
