Yeah they called me up today to let me know they are searching for the parts to put on and that "Legally are unable to provide the vehicle back to me until the recall item has been replaced"

I assume they are ordering the parts from Japan. Could take a while. I would be telling them I will collect the car and get the brakes done at another dealer. They can't legally stop you from taking your car.

unfortunately they wont release the car due to the safety recall item, its illegal to release a car that has a recall once its in the hands of a dealer

So they wont give it back till the recall item has been completed and tested, which makes sense its just annoying as hell because its not like its a 30 minute drive to get the thing

Shirley there's a piece of paper they can get you to sign saying you understand the car is un-driveable untill certain parts are fixed/replaced.

You think the fact that this "recall item" is still fine after 20 years would mean it would prob last another 400km home

That sucks man, you would think that it would be fine for the drive home. Hopefully they get it sorted soon!
