G'day gents. I thought I'd share a happy breakdown story for once.
I went to drive home after work the other day and noticed that my idle dropped to around 300rpm when stopped at the lights. Thinking the worst, I pulled over at the next servo and popped the bonnet to see the damage. Everything looked fine - electrical connectors looked fine and everything sounded normal - apart from the low idle. I didn't have a CEL and it wasn't running rough so I was feeling a little better about things.
I was hoping that it was just my ISC motor playing up - when my old TR Magna started idling low it turned out to be the ISC, so I was pretty confident that that was the issue.
I managed to heel-toe it all the way home through peak hour traffic.
Once home I wound the BISS screw out which raised the base idle slightly - I was happy seeing this. Also plugged in my datalogger and the ISC motor wasn't reporting back anything.
Luckily I bought a spare ISC about a year ago from ebay for about $90. I found it in my stash of parts, swapped it over last night and my car is running absolutely fine now.
It pays with these cars to have spares on hand!
