Hi All,

It's a sad moment, and probably one I will regret in time but I really need to say goodbye to my beloved baby.

I have so much money tied up in this car that it means my daily driver is a major POS because I do not want to go into more debt to get something decent, and in my current working position I need something respectable.

I have loved this car to death and I know Mitch (Mechanical Shutdown) can vouch for this, even though he will want to punch me in the balls for selling it lol.

I have spent over $40,000 (this does NOT include the original purchase price!!) on this car and I have receipts for more than $30,000 of that. It is an absolute rocket producing 340+ KW at the wheels with the ease to give a lot more.

This might not be the best avenue to try and sell the car as I would assume that most of you have one already, but you never know..

Below are a list of the mods I can think of off the top of my head:

I had bought stage 3 heads and 280 cams which I had on there for a short while (the car made 320kw on 10psi on run in tune with this setup) however, it was thought that these heads were causing an issue so I sold them... although I don't believe now that there were anything wrong with them so that would have been my next modification again

The bottom end is bullet proof and if you chuck some cams in (i'd suggest 272's as 280's were a bitch to drive down low) you will be unbeatable.

Some more details:

The car has done about 175,000 kms (I think, will need to check this) I have had the car since 2009, however it has spent a lot of that time being built, and one stage was completely off the road for more than 18 months.

I rarely drive the car and has been garaged most of it's life..

The paint needs some attention in a couple of spots but mostly it looks gorgeous.

I'm asking $24,000 for the car which is unbelievably fair considering the work done...

I saw your other posts.. I'm open to swaps for more luxury style cars but I'm pretty picky... something like BMW, Lexus etc but want Auto, Navigation etc as I do a bit of city driving... would prefer to sell than to swap..

With all the mods you have done, do you have all the old parts you took out still available?

If your not wanting to sink a ton of cash id stay well clear of BMW's. Lexus are nice also Subaru has a great mid range at the moment. The BRZ's and XV's seem to be very popular.

Most old parts have been sold - I bought another GTO a while back as a repairable write off but ended up selling it and giving a lot of the parts away with that...

Yeah the BRZ's are nice but a bit limited in features. I've been looking at the Nissan/Infinity 370GT's which are very nice..

Get a Hyundai.

Really sad to hear this is going Ben. But the way I look at it is you don't need to spend any more on the GTO (bar maintenance and what not) and you're actually losing quite alot of money by selling her. Keep her as your weekend warrior or monthly specialist (or like me - garage ornament). Like you said, you WILL regret getting rid of the GTO and all that money you spent is gone.

Yep I'll be losing a lot and she has been my weekend warrior for a while and I would love to keep it that way but without selling her, I can't buy something else unless someone wants to lend me 30k so I can buy something decent LOL

If it costs you nothing more than upkeep and you have no outstanding loan on it, id garage it until its affordable to drive it again. Bare the immediate burden of a below average daily driver and eventually you'll get another one to replace it.

Id concur with Scoot and say your just going to lose a great deal of money. If it was stock and only the purchase price was paid it might be a different story but, highly modified... Its money walking out the door.

I borrowed a stack of cash to do a lot of the work to it, which is why I'm in the scenario. If I hadn't then I would be doing exactly that, however, I don't want to borrow a heap more on top of what I owe already.

Modifying cars will always be a terrible investment so I knew I would be up for a great loss if I decided to sell...
