Default Any truth to this?

Whilst shopping for new rims for my gen1 1990 gto I flicked off a few emails to various aussie sites and one responded saying all I needed to do was match wheels to suit a 2006 Mitsubishi 380. Anyone know if there is any truth to these wheels actually fitting?

I don't wanna buy them and then realise they don't fit.

Also been told not to buy any narrower than 8.5 as this is the standard wheel width?

Any help / comments would be awesome!

8 or 9 inches is an easy fit.
Aftermarket, depends entirely on the offset of the rim, if its around 38-40 should fit ok. Also save yourself some hassle and just get each corner exactly the same rather than working out rolling diameters for staggered sets

I tried using this to find rims for my 1990 3000GT.

I am a noob to this so so far this is what im looking for:
Anything over 16 x 8.0 as this is the OE size.
Has to have pattern of 5x114.3

Do I have to ring the website selling the wheels to get the offset?
Sorry if thats a stupid question.

You'll want about 17 or 18" rim with a width of about 8-9", (16's way too small yes the 5/114.3 pattern is correct)
In my collection of wheels I've got (sizexwidth/offset) 18x8.5/38, 18x9/40 and 18x9.5/45 that I do know fit on a GTO without spacers or any silly shit like that... please don't use spacers.

Most companies manufacture their rims to a pattern, the offset varies from car to car so they might have to bring them in for you, but its very important you get it right.

Cheers mate!
I would never use spacers, dangerous shit..

My checklist is now complete?

Wheel size wanted: 18"
Width size: 8.0 - 9.0
Stud pattern: 5/114.3
Offset range approx: 38-40

If I follow these 4 rules I should have something that fits correct?

Is this going on a Non turbo 3000gt? or a vr4/gto(twin turbo)?
If it's going on a Non turbo, you'll have no problems finding rims for it.
If it's going on a twin turbo(bigger caliper) Then you'll have problems with a lot of rims not clearing, the hard part is making sure it fits up and go over the caliper.

I've found some awesome 18" rims but they are only 7.5 width.

Any chance this can work? or no point?

That's easy then. You can go 7.5 if you want, if you just plan on daily driving it and not really doing much to it. That's fine. There's quite a few members on the forum that runs 7.5width rims for daily driving. Just get some nice tires that grips and you'll be perfectly fine.

Thanks for all the help guys, much appreciated!

These rims are 18x7.5 and my stud pattern is available.

I'll ring them in the morning and get the offset, if he tells me anything between 38-40 then everything is going to be alright (in theory)?
