Yes, the new diff will come with its own shaft.

The weight is similar, within a few ounces, maybe lighter or maybe heavier. This is not a weight saving mod, it's a performance mod. It will make the car faster, does the weight still matter?

I don't mean to ask a stupid question, but this is a replacement for the f/r VCU in the AWD tranny correct? What output shafts are going to be available and what type of power range are these designed to handle?

Ricer: from the latin word Ricarius meaning to suck at everything you attempt

A person who makes unnecessary modifications to their most often import car (hence the term "rice") to make it (mostly make it look) faster. The most common modifications are (but not limited to):

- Huge exhaust that serves no purpose but to make the car louder
- Large spoiler on the back that looks like something Boeing made for the 747
- Lots of after-market company stickers they don't have parts from, but must be cool
- Expensive rims that usually cost more than the car itself
- Body kit to make the car appear lower, usually accented with chicken wire
- Clear tail lights and corner signals
- A "performance intake"- a tube that feeds cold air to their engine usually located in areas of excessive heat (behind or on top of the engine)
- Most of these riced cars (a.k.a. rice rockets or rice burners) are imports; Honda Civics, Accords, Integras, CRXs, RSXs, Del Sols Mitsubishi Eclipses, Lancers, Subaru Imprezas, however there are some domestics such as Chevrolet Caviliers, Dodge Neons, Ford Focus; small, slow, economy cars designed specifically to go slow. Please note that some 3000gt's Supras, Skylines, WRX's and other higher performance imports are designed to go fast, and are therefore not always considered rice, but it really depends on the severity of the case.

no I was more worried that it would be extremly light, usually light means it can't handle hard launches (there are exceptions!) but if what i hear is true i shouldn't have to worry about it with your design skills

man that is great. front and rear lsd with this will make a really great car for road racing. now lets go GT-R-evo- supra or any other car hunting. time to show what AWD is all about. you guys should start working on some tranny synchronizer then our tranny will be bolet proof.

I am still getting all this AWD components mixed up a little, lol. Is this for the trans or the x-case?

There is no diff in the transfer-case, this is a swap for the VCU in the Transaxle.

What would be the better investment in terms of reducing understeer, this one or the front diff?

Yes, our center diff lives in the tranny. Our transfer case is just two gears that change the direction of the shaft rotation by 90deg, and that will stay that way.

If reducing understeer is all you want to do, this SCE center diff is the way to go.

Then, if you add the rear KAAZ diff to it, it will become a fun drift car.

Or if you add a front Quaife, it will become a very capable autocross and road course car. It will also have very good launches at the drag strip.

If you add all three diffs, it will become an all-around capable car. Better than anything else on the road, including the GT-R, because those come with only an open front diff and only a part-time clutch-driven AWD.

Philip
