Hey Phil,

Still interested in this. Gingerman has one track day (weekend actually) left on the 25, 26th. They don't have any more test 'n' tune nights this season.

Yes, Max, the end of season party, Oct 25, 26th. Could you install the diff by then and attend, or is this too much of a stretch?

How long would it take to install once the tranny has been pulled?

Maybe 1-2 hours maximum. The tranny needs to be opened up, the diff inserted, the diff bearing clearance should be checked and adjusted if needed, and then the tranny needs to be resealed. All the gear shafts and the shift forks do not need to be removed and can remain in.

Hmmm.... never done tranny work myself (I had it rebuilt ~4-5 years ago by Team Rip Engineering here in K'zoo and it's been fine since). So I might potentially need a set of shims to adjust bearing clearance?

The tranny already comes with some shims installed. I've rebuilt dozens of transmissions myself and never had to add a single shim, only to remove a few. Perhaps I was lucky. If I needed to add a shim, I would cut a shim out of a coke can. I will ask around if I could buy those shims somewhere. Any transmission shop should have them available already pre-cut in standard metric bearing sizes (from a special coke can shim stock!).

We have any shim you could possibly need at 3SX. Do not let shims slow you guys down. Just let us know what sizes you need or we can get you an assortment. I have had to add and remove shims on several trannys in the past. Usually you do not have to touch them, but when they are out of spec they are usually WAY out.

Bret, if you have a drag car to test this diff this year, get back to me privately. Thank you.
