i've never done this before and the website says i need a hydraulic press, which i have access to. so my questions are:
1. does it matter which way the sleeve gets pressed in and out? 2. do i remove the cover and press it out towards the tcase seal? 3. which direction does the new one go in? 4. do i need to have some lubrication on it while pressing it in? thanks. i hope u guys can help since i got my spool from ya ![]()

Its been a while since I did one of these (5 years). I have a spool and parts in the garage that I'll look at tomorrow and see if I can do a writeup for ya.

I took a look at a disassembled t-case I have sitting in my garage from ~ 5 years ago and I'm not sure I can be of much help. Looking at the pile of parts didn't refresh my memory of how I took it apart. SCE has never assembled one of these... we always recommended other places like northbendtech or kormex to do them (I had LSE do mine). As soon as I get my replacement spool (in the next couple weeks) for my spare t-case I'll swap it out and put together a write up.

I don't have the means to do a write up on it tonight... But I think if you go ahead and take it apart, it will become quite self evident.. You're not pressing the parts out of the housing, they pop right out once you pull the cover.. You're pressing the gear and bearings off the sleeve..

I have an old deep fryer that I use to heat up things like that.. Makes them go together very nicely, and you don't risk galling the parts and damaging the press fit. Besides, it makes everyone that comes around the shop start looking for the french fries.. ![]() |
