The dog box coming along great. I decided to give the tranny a few hard tests to see what happened. I would not want my customers to discover any weak points that I should have discovered first.

Indeed, I found the weak link, but it's not any of the new parts. A stock roll pin that holds the shift fork has sheared when I tried to band the gears in too fast, also clutchless, and without lifting. This is something that I have seen before on stock transmissions too when the driver can shear the roll pins and sometimes break a shift fork. Normally the transmission should be shifted either with some sort of ignition interruption, or with the clutch, or with lifting off the gas. So something was supposed to fail when none of these rules were followed. Well, the thing that failed was the tiny bitty stock shift fork roll pin. It's an easy fix, and I just ordered a bunch of solid hardened steel pins that will be used in this kit and that won't shear. Double shear strength = 13,352 lbs.

All the other parts, like the shift forks, the gears, and the dog teeth were intact and are in a great shape, which is telling me that they were designed very well, and are definitely stronger than the stock parts at the very least.

Hmm, can one use these hardended roll pins on the normal OEM or SCE shift forks as well?

I'm not sure you'd want to use a stronger pin on the stock shift forks. They aren't that strong, and I'd rather have the pin break than the fork. Big pieces of fork floating around in the tranny = bad day.

With upgraded forks - probably a great idea.

Yep, sure. Once the pins arrive here I will see how they fit into the forks and will put them up on the SCE website.

Just received an update from my first customer:

"Hope to get more new gearsets soon.
Btw, i just finished tuning of our 3000gt on the dyno and got almost 1300hp.
Here is the dyno chart

Here is the video

And rest of the photos
Index of /~vanusha/3000gt

I shifted gears with our electronic sequential shifter on full throttle on the dyno with ignition retard and it works great!
Soon we will test it on the road at our major competition in Krasnoyarsk, drag-bitva

thanks!
Ivan"
