Default 5spd Transfer case bracket

I ordered the t-case bracket for myself for Christmas, with my fiance's credit card , and I have a question about it.

I am currently running a Stillen downpipe and there doesn't look to be much clearance between it and the t-case. I can't even fully unthread the sight plug. I haven't tried installing it yet, but I changed the oil today and was looking at that area and thinking about it. I know it sits kind of behind the main round area of the front section of the t-case where there is the least amount of clearance, but I am still concerned about it rubbing the downpipe. Has anyone who has installed the t-case bracket and also has a Stillen downpipe run into any clearance issues? And is it necessary to remove the downpipe and/or t-case to install it?

I have the same DP on my 91 RT/TT and I have Maximal's 5 spd T-case bracket and have no clearance issues at all. As far as install I am sure you can do it with everything there but i am not 100% positive because i installed mine while my car was apart.

I've got the 5 speed TC bracket with an IPS down pipe and there is enough clearance. Not enough to remove the plug on the front cover of the TC, but enough that I don't ever worry about the two of them rubbing.

The first time I installed the bracket I removed (but not drained) the TC. I had my downpipe removed at that point in time. The second time the bracket was put on someone else installed it for me so I don't remember. Again, the downpipe was off during that time also.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. I really like the bracket.

It is a little tight in there and you might have to loosen up some stuff to install it but it shouldn't cause any problems once on there.

Sounds good, I assumed the downpipe will have to come off, hopefully I won't have to remove the t-case. The more I stared at the picture on your website the less I worried.

Another question I thought of, it looks like some of the bolts you remove to install it hold the cases together, anyone experience any tranny fluid leakage with those loose?

Now hopefully it warms up around here a little bit. Maybe then I can spend more than 5 minutes in the garage before my fingers go numb.

You shouldn't have a problem with it leaking once you remove those bolts. There is enough of the other ones in there holding it together.

Thanks, I can't wait to install it. I should take the time to finally gut my rear precat too since the downpipe will be off.
